The full provisional fixture list for the 2026/27 Eredivisie season has been announced. While the opening round was revealed yesterday evening, the schedule for the remaining 33 matchweeks has now also been published. The new season will kick off in Leeuwarden with SC Cambuur vs Excelsior Rotterdam, marking the start of a special anniversary campaign as the league celebrates its 70th season.
The provisional fixture list has been compiled by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) in close consultation with, among others, all clubs, Eredivisie, First Division, ESPN, local authorities, the Central Players Council, the Central Coaches Council and Supporterscollectief Nederland. The fixture list will be officially finalised next Monday, 15 June.
European participants
As in previous seasons, clubs competing in European competitions will be able to indicate preferred matchdays and kick-off times around their European fixtures. In addition, they may request the postponement of certain league matches in order to prepare as effectively as possible for key European ties. This applies, among others, to Matchweek 3 of the Eredivisie, which is scheduled between the two legs of the UEFA play-off round.
Ajax and FC Twente have indicated that they would like to make use of this option. However, neither club is able to play a home match during the Matchweek 3 weekend. For that reason, their fixtures have already been rescheduled to midweek dates in September.
N.E.C. Nijmegen may also request a postponement. As the club is able to play at home during the original Matchweek 3 weekend, their fixture remains scheduled for now. Depending on the club’s European results, it may still be decided to move N.E.C. Nijmegen vs Excelsior Rotterdam to a midweek date in September.
European qualification 2026/27
In the 2026/27 season, only the champions of the Eredivisie will qualify directly for the league phase of the UEFA Champions League. The runners-up will enter the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. The team finishing third will earn a place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, while the winner of the European play-offs will qualify for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.
The winners of the KNVB Cup will qualify for the league phase of the UEFA Europa League. If the cup winners also finish first or second in the league, the Europa League place will be awarded to the team finishing third, with the qualifying spots shifting accordingly:
- 1st place: UEFA Champions League league phase
- 2nd place: UEFA Champions League third qualifying round (Q3)
- 3rd place: UEFA Europa League second qualifying round (Q2)
- Winner of the European play-offs: UEFA Conference League second qualifying round (Q2)
- Winner of the KNVB Cup: UEFA Europa League league phase
Possible changes
Following the performances of the clubs involved in European qualifying rounds (N.E.C. Nijmegen, FC Twente and Ajax) and the draws for the league phases of the UEFA Champions League (PSV and Feyenoord) and UEFA Europa League (AZ), the Eredivisie schedule up to and including Matchweek 12 will be aligned with their European fixtures in early September. At the same time, exact match dates and kick-off times for Matchweeks 13 to 21 will be confirmed.
After Matchweek 17, in the second half of December, the exact dates and kick-off times for Matchweeks 22 to 32 will be announced.
The current provisional fixture list has been prepared by the Professional Football Competition Board, consisting of the KNVB, Eredivisie CV and the Coöperatie Eerste Divisie. The timeline for the coming months is as follows:
- Monday 15 June: Final fixture list published, including exact dates and kick-off times for Eredivisie Matchweeks 1–12, Matchweek 18, Matchweek 33–34, and the full Keuken Kampioen Divisie schedule.
- Early September: Possible changes to Matchweeks 5–12 due to European football, plus confirmation of exact dates and kick-off times for Matchweeks 13–21.
